Oceans of thought came to mind as I painted “Everlasting”. Feelings of joy, pain and sorrow poured in like waves beating on a sandy shore. Memories of this young man’s death have left his family in tears. But what can be said?
We’ve all heard the scripture - John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. So many of us can quote these words. This boy had the faith to believe them. He is about to cross the waters from this life to everlasting life. He is drawn to the light. With overwhelming pain, some cannot understand and question God. They must realize that God loves them and knows their pain. God’s only Son was brutally killed. Instead of denouncing mankind, provisions were made for all who would believe in His Son to have everlasting life. This is our only answer and hope.
It is my hope, that through this young man’s death, others will know life. I dedicate this painting to the lives of many who die, and yet live -life everlasting!
